Motors are machines which convert electrical energy to mechanical energy. Drones require motors to create necessary thrust during flight. In drones, small Direct Current (DC) motors are used to achieve flight.
There are 3 types of DC motors:
Stepper motor
Brushless DC
Brushed DC
Advantages:
Accurate position control
Excellent low speed torque
Long Life
Disadvantages:
Low efficiency
Prone to resonance noise and cannot accelerate loads
Advantages:
Economical and Simplest to use
Speed linear to applied voltage
Simple motor control
Disadvantages:
High maintenance
Short life span
Advantages:
High efficiency
Little to no maintenance
High output power per frame size
Disadvantages:
More complicated motor
Large initial costs
